The Museum’s Earth Day program is all about reconnecting to our natural world and being good stewards of our planet. It’s a day to plant seeds and bring plants into your home. Be creative in the re-use and re-cycling the materials of everyday life in art and habits.  

Activities for this family friendly afternoon include window-sill plantings, making sun-catchers, a scavenger-hunt, and other activities.  There’s a book swap corner, some fun & informative materials & light refreshments.

Admission $5/ $12 per family (Members: $4/$10)

Victorian Lawn Tea & Music

 Sunday, May 18, 1—4pm 

Join us for a relaxing afternoon of music, food, art, and spring blooms at the Voelker Orth Museum in Flushing.

Enjoy a light lawn tea in the garden with a musical performance by Eart'Acte, with Stephen C. Josephs on flute, Michael Sigaran on double bass, and Glen Flax on guitar. There’s traditional tea sandwiches, and other sweet and savory treats with a selection of teas.  A traditional German Maibowle punch is also featured.                 

General Admission $20 and $15 for Members. Advanced tickets available on Eventbrite. If it rains, the program moves indoors.

Mother’s Day: Creative Together

Celebrate Mother’s Day with us!                                                                   

We extend a warm invitation to visit the museum. Join our drop-in art workshop and create a bouquet of colorful paper flowers. You can draw your inspiration from the spring blooms in the garden.   

Enjoy a refreshing glass of our signature Betty’s Zip punch, crafted with grapes from the Museum’s vines.     

It’s a perfect opportunity to spend a leisurely Sunday afternoon surrounded by loved ones.  And, if the weather smiles upon us, immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the spring garden.

Suggested donation: $5. Museum open 1-4pm.

Spring Break Family Day

Time to be creative! Join us for an afternoon of printmaking and butterflies. It’s a bit early to see real butterflies fluttering in the garden, so we’ll create some colorful versions of our own.  Activities suitable for all ages. Light refreshments served.

This inaugural festival is an immersive celebration of food and cultural memory. Activate your senses and connect to the diversity of Queens culinary traditions as you explore the Voelker Orth House and its Victorian garden.

Hear from experts on history and cooking, taste samples from local food vendors, and swap family stories and recipes. See how to preserve a record of your family’s home cooking traditions, and get creative in hands-on family workshops.
