Spheres and Sinospheres: Amy Cheng

Voelker Orth Museum is pleased to present SPHERES AND SINOSPHERES, an exhibition of paintings by Chinese-American artist AMY CHENG, who seeks connections between Western, Eastern, and Middle Eastern Art. Rich with color, pattern, life and celebration, her images are layered with spheres and circles, speaking of flowers, stars, suns, and cosmic rhythms. Her work draws from colorful Chinese folk art as well as traditional Chinese landscape painting, treating humans as small and transparent, buffeted by the larger cycles of seasons, voyages, and the forces of nature. Her many spheres are worlds within worlds which reveal profound, shared truths.
