Cat in MirrorReigning Cats and Dogs:
Watercolors by Christine Yost

On view through November 24th
Tuesday, Saturday & Sunday, 1-4pm

Closing Reception, Saturday, November 21st, 2-4pm
The Voelker and Orth family held deep affection for their pets. This exhibition is our way of bringing the dogs and cats back into the house, while sharing the work of a wonderful artist.

Through November 24th a group of watercolor paintings by artist-environmentalist Christine Yost. are on view. We've invited art critic and documentarian Larry Qualls to curate a selection of her work for her first solo exhibition.
The paintings feature cats and dogs and  are brimming with personality, filled with light and life!
Come meet the artist and curator at the Saturday afternoon reception. Light refreshments served.

Each year the museum is decorated for the holiday season harkening back to the days when the Orth family celebrated the season with friends and family. Visit and enjoy a traditional home display.

And, in mid-January we feature a series of images documenting the Voelker Orth by Julia Skyba, an artist who has interned with us this Autumn.

Essence of Queens:Kissena Park
Photography by Carlos Esguerra

February 13th – May 8th

Carlos Esguerra travels the world making powerful images of our built and natural environment. His work has met with critical acclaim internationally. Then, he comes home to Queens. This exhibition grew out of the artist's response to the article he saw in Fodor's Travel magazine in June 2015, "Why Queens Is the NYC Borough You Can No Longer Ignore". Esguerra's goal is to go beyond the 'pretty picture' level in creating the images of our landmarks as well as Queens enclaves of cultural diversity.

There are no tours or gallery hours: Thanksgiving Holiday weekend; November 28-29th; December 26--27th; January 2nd - January 10, 2016; Lunar New Year, February 6-9th.

As the Museum is located in a 1890s house with a number of small rooms, we ask that groups interested in taking a tour contact us in advance to better accommodate all visitors. The standard house tour runs 20-30 minutes.

The ground floor of the house is physically accessible. Children must be accompanied by adults.

Suggested donation $2.
